About the Artist

Mark Sofilas’ professional career began in 1979 as a freelance illustrator/artist. After a number of years working in the advertising industry in his hometown of Perth then Melbourne, Mark now resides in and works from his studio in Sydney. Mark has worked for all major Australian advertising agencies and has produced work for a large number of high profile Australian and international clients. In 1999, a separate business venture, SportsArt Australia, saw Mark focus his talents on creating unique, inspirational paintings of some of the sporting world’s greatest stars. His paintings of past America’s Cup contenders for the book “Two Decades of Challenge” is part of the permanent collection of the White House Library. Mark’s fine art works have featured in a number of joint exhibitions including the Tennis Hall of Fame Gallery, Newport Rhode Island, United Way exhibition in Perth and this is the fourth time Mark has been included in HSI’s Extinction Denied exhibition.
