About the Artist

Xavier Ghazi lived, studied and worked in Paris until 1995 where he chose a career in illustration. During this time he had several group exhibitions and won first prize in the portrait category in the 1993 International Art Show. Following his move to Sydney, Xavier was part of the two shows in the Illustrators Association of Australia, exhibited in the Café Blue Gallery in Newtown and The ArtHouse Hotel.  Xavier has won the Bald Archy three times; in 2002, with his portrait of Australian swimmer Ian Thorpe, in 2004 with Rupert Murdoch and this year for his wonderful double portrait of Dame Edna Everege/Barry Humphries.  He views himself as an image-maker and sees no boundaries between fine art and illustration.
