About the Artist

Simon Collins, born in Australia in 1969, is a graduate of Sydney College of the Arts and concentrates on painting and drawing. In 2006 his first solo exhibition Avian featured birds, particularly the ones that live in the St George area of Sydney. The subject matter of Avian was driven by Simon’s observations and reflections while occupied in the activities that go hand-in-hand with having a young family.  In 2007 Simon was a finalist in the Churchie National Emerging Art Award Exhibition and gained selection in the Art of Sydney Awards and the Thirroul Seaside & Arts Festival. In 2006 he gained selection in the Waverley Art Prize (Sydney), and received an honourable mention in the 5^th Art Interview International Online Artist Competition, which led to his work being included in the Berlin 2007 winners’ exhibition.
