About the Artist

Dharug custodian, Robyn Caughlan, is a self-taught artist whose bright colours and weaving stories can be seen in her art and fashion creations.  She has exhibited her art in a number of solo and group exhibitions since 1986, including the Jeans4Genes exhibition in 1998 (Emille Francois), 1999 (Don Burke) and 2004 (Shirley Bassey).  Robyn’s culture is interwoven throughout her pieces, with the Powerhouse Museum obtaining two of her indigenous works for their 10 year exhibition. She choreographed her own fashion show for the Sydney 2000 Olympics and was the first indigenous woman to enter a ready-to-wear collection for Mercedes Fashion Week. Robyn’s fabric designs can also been seen at Kondarie Resort at Hervey Bay, the Sabaya Resort at Port Douglas and the York Apartments in Sydney.
