HSI continues to lobby for greater protection for valuable habitats for biodiversity throughout the Asia Pacific region, particularly around Australia. Our campaign efforts include securing increased legal protection for threatened ecological communities under various Australian state and national environmental laws; lobbying at international meetings for international efforts to protect areas of habitat crucial for world heritage, and biodiversity; and securing Commonwealth Government funding for the protection of natural heritage and biodiversity hotspots. In 2007 we launched the Australian arm of the Wildlife Land Trust, establishing a network of sanctuaries throughout Australia to help protect habitat and the wildlife that lives within.
